Green Power Smoothie

A hydrating smoothie that helps start you day right!


Are you one of those people that are really skeptical about green smoothies? Think they will taste bitter and gross? Wonder what the craze is? Well green smoothies don't have to be bitter and disgusting, they actually can be great and get you on the right foot for your day.




How about trying a green smoothie recipe that is both healthy and tastes great! How do you make that you ask, it's all about the ingredients. I mean let's face it, smoothie shops aren't popping up all over the world if they were all that terrible tasting, right?


Using high quality greens and adding a splash of coconut water and fruit will give your smoothie just the right mix of greens and natural sweet to help you get going.


Ingredient List

Serving Size: 1 32 Oz glass container

  • 125 mL unsweetened Orange Juice

  • 125 mL Coconut Water

  • 1 handful of Spinach or any other leafy greens like Kale or Arugula

  • 1 large stalk of Celery

  • ½ Avocado

  • 2 scoops of your favorite plant based protein powder

  • 1 Honey Crisp/ Pink Lady Apple (organic)

  • Juice of 1 small Lime

  • Handful of Ice

Directions

Step 1:

Chop all fruits and veggies first because this helps with blending


Step 2:

Add the orange juice and coconut water, then add spinach, celery, and avocado and protein powder


Step 3:

Next add the apple, juice of the lime, and ice. Blend on high power until smooth.


Step 4:

Pour into a cute glass or mason jar with a reusable straw and enjoy!


 

Additions or substitutes

Here's the thing about smoothies, you can make them the way you like. A good high quality, high powered blender is super helpful. Try adding additional healthy fats like chia or milled flaxseed. Swap out the fruits for others you may like. Add different greens and notice the flavor profile and texture. The beauty of smoothies is they add nutritious greens to your diet, improve your hydration and taste great. Before long you will notice the extra pep in your step that starts with your smoothie.
